PLAYER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Our vision at Nashville United Soccer Academy is to create players for life and develop champions of character. NUSA promotes not only a love of the game, teamwork, physical skills, and good health, but through our Leadership Program also promotes a culture of service and leadership in the community.

NUSA LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Each player in NUSA’s Upper Academies (U13-19) will demonstrate the willingness to help and serve others, as well as the desire to make a difference for the sport, club, and community.  We understand that many NUSA players have various other commitments, however, as part of playing for NUSA, we expect a level of participation from every player in one of the 3 areas outlined below.  Having our players support our NUSA Outreach Soccer Programs and Each One Teach One initiatives is essential to our goal of supporting soccer in the community.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Club Leadership will assist with and encourage all NUSA players/teams in the Upper Academies to be involved in the following areas:

  • Volunteer Time and Talent:  each player will assist and support the Susewind Program at least once per season by helping at the weekly training sessions and Saturday ‘free play’ game days.  Each player will also volunteer once per season with NUSA’s Each One Teach One initiatives.

  • Collect Sponsorships/Donations:  We ask players and parents in all age groups to participate in our Sponsorship Drive.  This will include researching and seeking out potential sponsors (corporate and individual) to offer scholarships for our players and families who need financial assistance.  Example:  $550 donation pays the fees and state required insurance for 10 kids to join the Susewind Recreational League for the season!

  • Organize or Support a Used Equipment Drive:  Often, the players in the Susewind program will be from lower income households.  We encourage players to collect and organize equipment needed for players affiliated with the Susewind League (i.e. soccer balls, soccer cleats, shin guards, soccer socks, etc.).

GET INVOLVED!

Serving in the NUSA Player Leadership Program is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference for the sport, help younger kids who share the same passion as you, develop leadership skills, learn, network and grow.

At the end of every season, NUSA teams will be acknowledged for the highest impact made to the Leadership Program:

  • Most volunteered hours

  • Largest dollar amount of money raised

  • Most equipment collected

Susewind Soccer Program

NUSA founded the Susewind Soccer Program in 2016 at no cost to players and families. This is a recreational outreach program for boys and girls ages 5-14, many of them from low-income families or Nashville’s refugee communities.   We want to promote and grow the Susewind Program every season, and we want all of our U13 and above NUSA Players to be a big part in making that happen. All NUSA players will volunteer in the Susewind Soccer Program once per season as coaches/referees/mentors etc.

Each One Teach One

NUSA started Each One Teach One, a soccer based initiative which supports integration for children and adults of all learning abilities. NUSA has partnered with the Full Circle Program at the Brentwood YMCA for Each One Teach One events and NUSA players will volunteer and play at these events.

NUSA has also hosted larger Each One Teach One events involving multiple youth soccer clubs and other organizations including Special Olympics, Able Youth, Best Buddies, Sloans Sidekicks, Millar Rich.
