Nashville United Soccer Academy Announces Kaffie Kurz as Boys Lower Academy Director
NASHVILLE, TN (July 27, 2026) – Nashville United Soccer Academy (NUSA) is proud to announce the appointment of Kaffie Kurz as the club’s new Boys Lower Academy Director, overseeing player development for the u9 – u11, boys age groups.
Kurz steps into the role after joining NUSA last year, where he has already made a significant impact through his enthusiasm, professionalism, and commitment to developing young athletes. His passion for the game, combined with an extensive playing background and collegiate coaching experience, makes him an outstanding addition to the leadership of the club’s player development pathway.
Originally from Liberia, Kurz enjoyed a decorated collegiate playing career at Northern Michigan University, where he served as team captain and earned numerous individual and team honors. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching with both his alma mater and the North Suburban Soccer Association before serving as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Dallas Baptist University men’s soccer program while completing his Master’s degree in Sport Management.
Kurz holds a USSF National D License and plans to pursue his USSF C License this year as he continues his coaching education.
At NUSA, the Lower Academy represents one of the most important stages of a player’s journey. During the u9 – u11 years, players develop not only their technical ability and tactical understanding but also the confidence, character, and love for the game that serve as the foundation for long-term success. The appointment of Kurz reflects the club’s continued investment in providing exceptional coaching and creating a positive learning environment for every player.
As Kurz assumes his new role, NUSA would also like to recognize Baker Lockhart for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the Boys Lower Academy. Due to work and life commitments, Baker will be stepping down as Boys Lower Academy Director. Throughout his time in the role, he has played an integral part in shaping the experience of countless young players while helping strengthen the foundation of the Lower Academy program.
Although he will no longer serve as Director, Baker will remain an important part of the NUSA family and continue coaching within the Lower Academy.
