Nashville United Soccer Academy 09G Maroon Finish as U.S. Youth Soccer President’s Cup Regional Finalists

NASHVILLE, TN (June 18, 2026) – Nashville United Soccer Academy (NUSA) is proud to recognize its 2009 Girls Maroon team for an outstanding run at the US Youth Soccer President’s Cup Regional Championships, where they finished as finalists after a remarkable and hard-fought tournament campaign.

The team opened the competition with a strong 4-2 victory, setting the tone with an attacking performance and consistent composure in key moments. Building on that momentum, the group continued to grow into the tournament, showcasing their ability to adapt and compete against high-level opposition.

After a narrow 4-3 defeat in their second match, one that tested the group’s resilience and mentality, the team responded in emphatic fashion. In their third game, 09G Maroon delivered one of their most complete performances of the season, earning a dominant 6-0 victory. The result secured their place in the championship match and highlighted the team’s ability to learn, adjust, and respond under pressure.

In the final, NUSA faced the same opponent from their earlier one-goal loss, setting the stage for a competitive and tightly contested rematch. The game proved to be a battle from start to finish, with both sides demonstrating defensive organization, discipline, and determination. Despite creating opportunities and controlling key stretches of play, the match remained deadlocked at 0-0 through regulation.

The championship was ultimately decided in a penalty shootout, where NUSA fell just short. While the result did not go their way, the performance reflected the team’s growth, composure, and ability to compete at the highest level throughout the tournament.

At Nashville United Soccer Academy, success is not measured solely by wins and losses, but by the development and growth of its players. The 09G Maroon team exemplified this philosophy over the course of the season and throughout their regional run. From their ability to respond to adversity, to their commitment to improving collectively, the group demonstrated meaningful progress both individually and as a team.

Beyond the results, the experience provided invaluable moments for the players, competing against top teams, navigating high-pressure environments, and building lasting memories with teammates. These are the moments that shape long-term development and foster a genuine love for the game.

“The growth this group showed over the course of the season and throughout the tournament was exceptional,” said NUSA leadership. “They competed with intensity, supported one another, and represented the club the right way. We are incredibly proud of their journey and everything they accomplished.”

NUSA remains committed to providing a player-centered environment that emphasizes development, character, and a lifelong passion for the game. The 09G Maroon team’s achievement as regional finalists stands as a testament to that mission.
