Leadership Transition Within MLS Next Program for 2026/27 Season

NASHVILLE, TN (May 18, 2026) – Nashville United Soccer Academy (NUSA) is pleased to announce several key leadership transitions within its MLS Next program as the club continues to grow and enhance its player development pathway ahead of the 2026/27 season.

As part of this evolution, Bob Jeffrey will transition from his current role as MLS Next Director into two new positions within the club. He will serve as Assistant MLS Next Director, while also taking on the role of NUSA’s Full-Time Goalkeeping Director.

“As our organization has grown and our programs have expanded, we have identified a greater need for more dedicated and consistent goalkeeper training at NUSA,” said Executive Director, Robbie Stewart. “Bob has tremendous experience in both areas, and we are excited about the value he will continue to bring to our MLS Next program while also elevating the standard of goalkeeping development across the club.”

In support of this expanded focus on goalkeeper development, Gary Germaine and John Jeffus will continue to provide specialized goalkeeper training. NUSA is also actively seeking an additional goalkeeping coach to further meet the needs of its growing player base.

Additionally, Alan O’Connor will assume the role of MLS Next Director. Having previously served as the Program Director, O’Connor brings extensive experience and a strong reputation within the league, ensuring a seamless transition in leadership.

“Alan’s appointment is a natural progression for our club,” Stewart added. “He is a highly respected coach and director with a deep understanding of our philosophy. We are confident in his ability to lead the MLS Next program and continue driving its growth and success.”

Looking Ahead

As NUSA prepares for the 2026/27 season, these leadership changes reflect the club’s continued commitment to growth, innovation, and providing a top-tier development environment for its players. With an enhanced focus on specialized training, particularly in goalkeeping, and strong leadership guiding the MLS Next program, the club is well-positioned to build on its momentum and continue developing both players and people.

NUSA remains dedicated to raising standards across all levels of the club while creating meaningful pathways for players to reach their full potential, both on & off the field.
