Please be diligent and cautious, some clubs charge you a fee (or even expect you to pay for the entire year) when you sign a commitment letter. This club fee is separate from TSSA registration costs and can be non-refundable even if you choose to commit to another organization during the “open recruitment” period, prior to the binding date set by TSSA.

Nashville United Soccer Academy would like to clarify to all players and families that you should feel no undue pressure from a youth soccer organization to attend every single tryout date for one club or commit to an organization before TSSA’s commitment date.

As players and parents you should do your due diligence and find a club that is the best fit for you and your family. While there is a binding date for commitments with TSSA and clubs are trying to form teams quickly after tryouts, please be wary of clubs giving you unreasonable deadlines to commit to their club during the week of tryouts. You should be given reasonable time to explore options during tryouts and after tryouts to make the best decision for your child and family.

Please know that all signed commitment letters are considered binding for the 2023-2024 soccer season after the binding date.  (Uncommitted players may register with a club at any point during the calendar year, provided there are positions available)

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRYOUTS:

Players will receive an ID number at the registration table when they check in. They will be asked to pin the number on the left leg of their shorts and wear them to each day of tryouts.

Players will be evaluated by several coaches during the process. Players will play many small sided games and be asked to play in different combinations of players.  We ask that players listen, work hard, and have fun!  Relax and do your best.

WHAT TO WEAR:

  • Dark shorts, white or light colored t-shirt (no soccer club logos), shin guards and cleats

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Ball
  • Water

PLAYER NUMBERS:

Each player will receive a pin-on ID number that will be used for all tryouts.  Please keep this number and wear it each night.

ONLINE REGISTRATION:

Walk-up registration is allowed, but it may take longer

ALL players are asked to register in advance through our website as a courtesy to our administration team and to be sure that all players are listed on the reports for the coaches.

Once Tryouts are complete, the coaches for each Academy will meet and discuss the players to determine the best place for them within our academy structure.  Offers will be sent first to those invited to train in our competitive academies.  For those that do not make a competitive academy, you may be offered a spot in our PDP (Player Development Program). Offers may come via email or phone call. In our Upper Academies offers will also be for a specific team, though per our Upper Academy structure there is some potential for player movement during the season or year.  NUSA focuses on long term player development and not short term team successes, hence our Academy training structure.

Players wanting to play up an age group

For parents/players desiring to be evaluated for an age group older than their birth year, NUSA policy states that all players tryout ON AGE.  Once a player attends a tryout with their birth year, the lead/Maroon coach may identify the player as an “excelling” player and recommend they tryout in the older age group.

Nashville United Soccer Academy is thrilled to announce NUSA Next, an MLS NEXT program based in Nashville, TN.

This will mark the first MLS NEXT program in the state of Tennessee outside of the Nashville Soccer Club Academy.

We will be announcing MLS Next tryout information soon!
